Frequently Asked Questions
______________________________
What if I have never
golfed before?
Las Verdes is a perfect place to learn. We’ve created
a noncompetitive nonjudgmental
environment for new golfers. The curriculum will cover everything
from how to choose golf clubs, to golf terminology
to etiquette on the golf course. Although you’ll learn
how to keep score, we focus on playing, not winning.
What if I am an experienced
golfer?
Although the majority of our guests are beginners, our skilled
instructors can certainly help you
improve your game. There is plenty of individual instruction
so instructors can meet the needs of individual guests.
If you are looking for a golf package without instruction,
this is not the trip for you.
Do I need to be an
athlete to participate?
No, you do not have to be an athlete, but golf requires quite
a bit of walking. The on-course
golf instruction is about two and a half hours and includes
nine holes of golf, so guests must be in good
physical health and free of injuries.
Do you use golf carts?
Yes, and guests get to drive!
Do I need my own
golf clubs?
No, we provide professional golf equipment designed especially
for women. If you have your own clubs, you
are welcome to bring them. Just check with your airlines
regarding fees for traveling with golf clubs.
What if I am very
tall or short?
Let us know and we will arrange to have clubs that fit you.
What do I wear?
The golf dress code is 'resort casual', which is simply tasteful
comfortable clothes that you can golf in; polo shirt, shorts/skirts/slacks,
pullover/sweater, cap/hat, and sunglasses. Temperatures
can change quickly from warm to cold so layers are a must
and be prepared for light rain showers.
The only rules are:
• Shirts must
have a collar, polo shirts are ideal.
• No denim

Do I need special
golf shoes?
Golf shoes are ideal but not required. Spikes on golf shoes
must be plastic, metal spikes are not allowed.
Otherwise, comfortable walking or sports shoes with a big
tread for traction are recommended.
What is the weather
like?
During our Spring/Summer season, Carmel has mild weather
ranging from sunny, to foggy to rainy...
all in the same day. Be prepared for light rain so we can
continue golfing if we get a few showers.
Surprisingly, our warmest months are September and October
when we have ‘Indian-Summer’.
What is the age range
of your guests?
To create a diverse group dynamic, we include female guests
of all ages.
Guests range is age from 30’s to 70’s. Teens
14 and over are welcome to join
with a Mom, Aunt or adult friend.
Can I come by myself?
Our program is ideal for solo guests and we enjoy fostering
new friendships.
Can I come with a
group?
Yes, pairs of friends and groups are welcome and encouraged
to be open to the friendship of the
other guests. Shared rooms for two guests attending together
are available,
but book early because they sell out quickly.
Can you accommodate
private groups or business retreats?
Yes, we’d be happy to schedule and customize a safari
to meet your needs. Meeting facilities,
group meals and additional activities like wine tasting,
hiking and kayaking are available.
